A Qatar Airways Boeing 777-300, registration A7-BED performing flight QR-899 from Auckland (New Zealand) to Brisbane,QL (Australia), was on final approach to Brisbane's runway 01R with the captain being pilot flying. The crew acquired visual contact with the runway at about 300 feet AGL despite heavy rain. Descending through 200 feet the aircraft began to drift right, upon the first officer's announcement the captain corrected, the aircraft however again drifted to the right just as it was about to touchdown due to gusting crosswinds. The aircraft touched down right of the runway centerline, the right main gear contacted and damaged four runway edge lights before the aircraft returned onto the runway center line. While vacating the runway the crew was alerted of low pressure in one of the right hand main tyres, the crew stopped the aircraft on the taxiway and requested an inspection. Damage to four right main gear tyres was found, the aircraft was towed to the apron.

Australia's ATSB rated the occurrence a serious incident and opened a short investigation estimated to conclude by 2nd quarter 2022.

The aircraft was able to depart for the onward leg to Doha (Qatar) after about 5.5 hours on the ground.
