A Lufthansa Airbus A320-200, registration D-AIWE performing flight LH-2724 from Munich (Germany) to Pisa (Italy) and further on to Olbia (Italy), was descending towards Pisa when the crew stopped the descent at FL230 after receiving a slat system #1 fault indication. The aircraft climbed to FL300 and returned to Munich for a safe landing on runway 26R about 80 minutes after departure.

A replacement A320-200 registration D-AIUU reached Pisa with a delay of about 160 minutes, picked up the passengers stranded by the diversion the previous day, see Incident: Lufthansa CRJ9 near Pisa on Jun 29th 2021, smoke on board, and reached Olbia with a delay of about 5 hours (for the passengers of LH2724/30) and a delay of almost 18 hours (for the passengers of LH1912/29).
