An American Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration N663AW performing flight AA-2049 from San Jose,CA to Phoenix,AZ (USA) with 149 people on board, was in the initial climb out of San Jose's runway 30R when the crew declared PAN PAN and reported the failure of the right hand engine (V2527). The aircraft levelled off at 2000 feet and returned to San Jose for a safe landing on runway 30R about 10 minutes after departure.
