A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration C-GKUK performing flight QK-7932 from Toronto,ON to Thunder Bay,ON (Canada) with 50 passengers and 4 crew, was in the initial climb out of Toronto's runway 06L when the crew selected the gear up, however, the nose gear light continued to show green as if the nose gear had not retracted. The crew declared emergency and decided to return to Toronto. The crew performed an alternate gear extension, this time the nose landing gear showed red (unsafe), the crew of another aircraft reported the nose landing gear was not down. The crew pulled the alternate release handle even harder, this time the nose gear doors opened and the nose gear locked into position with both normal and alternate gear indications showing green. The aircraft landed on Toronto's runway 24R about 90 minutes after departure and vacated the runway onto taxiway D4, from where it was towed to the apron.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance performed gear swings and found the nose gear light always on. The selector landing gear control unit was replaced.
