A Voyageur Airways Canadair CRJ-200, registration C-FMUV performing flight VC-200 from Halifax,NS to North Bay,ON (Canada), was climbing out of Halifax's runway 32 when the crew could not retract the nose gear, stopped the climb at 4000 feet, pergformed a manual gear extension and returned to Halifax for a safe landing on runway 05 about 20 minutes after departure.

The Canadian TSB reported the crew requested emergency services on stand by as precaution due to nose wheel steering not being available for landing. Maintenance worked on the aircraft and returned it to service the following day.
