The aircraft is still on the ground in Moscow about 8.5 hours after landing.
Russian and Chinese media reported the aircraft was scheduled to continue to Madrid,SP (Spain) and claimed the crew performed an emergency landing into Sheremetyevo due to a left hand engine failure (some also claim it was the right hand engine that failed) and diverted to Moscow.
Flight plan data show the aircraft was scheduled to land in Sheremetyevo. Radar data show the aircraft remained at cruise FL until top of descent about 140nm east of Moscow and commenced a normal descent into Sheremetyevo.
On Mar 3rd 2021 Rosaviatsia reported the crew received a "ENG EEC C 1_L_" message, the left hand engine was controlled in normal mode via channel 2. There were no restrictions on continuation of the flight and no requirement of any action by the crew. The aircraft landed safely with both engines operating normally, there was no damage to the aircraft or the engines.
