An Air India Express Boeing 737-800, registration VT-AXX performing flight IX-1346 from Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) to Kozhikode (India) with 104 people on board, was enroute at FL390 about 350nm northwest of Thiruvananthapuram when the crew decided to divert to Thiruvananthapuram due to a hydraulic failure and set course towards Thiruvananthapuram. The aircraft landed safely on runway 32 about one hour after the decision to divert.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration VT-GHI reached Kozhikode with a delay of 5.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Thiruvananthapuram (aka Trivandrum) about 9 hours after landing.
