An American Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration N127UW performing flight AA-843 from Philadelphia,PA (USA) to Montego Bay (Jamaica), was enroute at FL340 about 250nm eastnortheast of Charlotte,NC (USA) when the crew attempted to stop a loud squealing door from making noises by changing altitudes, however, to no avail. The crew thus decided to divert to Charlotte for a safe landing about 75 minutes after leaving FL340.

A replacement A320-200 registration N102UW departed Charlotte about 2 hours after N127UW had landed and reached Montego Bay with a delay of 2:20 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Charlotte for about 24 hours before returning to service.
