A Freebird Airlines Europe Airbus A320-200, registration 9H-FHB performing positioning flight FHM-9105 from Bacau (Romania) to Maastricht Aachen (Netherlands) with 2 crew, was enroute at FL380 about 90nm southeast of Prague (Czech Republic) when the crew descended their aircraft to FL300 due to a right hand engine (CFM56) oil leak. The crew subsequently reduced the right engine thrust to idle and descended the aircraft further to FL280. About 150nm before Maastricht the crew called Maastricht Tower querying whether they had been informed about their issue by German ATC, Maastricht affirmed. The crew advised, they had lost "Öl" (oil, using the German word in the middle of an English transmission) from the right hand engine, the quantity had reduced from 16 quarts to 3 quarts. The crew was concerned about a possible oil leak and thus requested emergency services on stand by to check for leakages. The aircraft landed safely on Maastricht's runwaay 21 about 30 minutes after that first contact with Maastricht Tower and about 85 minutes after the aircraft left FL380. Tower instructed the crew to shut down both engines on the runway, technical support would arrive shortly. The crew stopped the aircraft on the runway and shut the engines down.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Maastricht about 31 hours after landing.

Prior to this flight the aircraft had last flown on Oct 30th 2020 and had been stored in Bacau.
