A UTAir Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration VQ-BLH performing flight UT-137 from Surgut to Novosibirk (Russia) with 52 passengers and 5 crew, was descending towards Novosibirsk when the right hand engine (PW127) failed. The crew shut the engine down and continued for a safe landing.

A replacement ATR-72-212A registration VQ-BMA continued the next leg to Krasnojarsk with a delay of 5 hours.

Ural's Transport Prosecutor's Office reported the aircraft with 52 passengers and 5 crew was enroute from Novosibirsk to Surgut when the right hand engine failed prompting the crew to return the aircraft to Novosibirsk. The Surgut office is checking compliance with safety regulations.

The airline clarified the aircraft was enroute from Surgut to Novosibirsk when the crew received indication of a right engine failure. The commander decided to land at the nearest airfield, which was the destination.
