An Air Tahiti Avion de Transport Regional ATR-42-500, flight VT-940 from Papeete to Hao (French Polynesia) with 33 passengers, was climbing out of Papeete when with increasing altitude an increasing whistling sound was observed from the right hand windshield until the crew decided to stop the climb and return to Papeete for a safe landing about 30 minutes after departure.

A leaking windshield seal was identified as the cause of the tunes. The airline said the windshield had been replaced prior to the flight, a small pressure leak remained however.
