A Rossiya Boeing 747-400 on behalf of Aeroflot, registration EI-XLM performing flight SU-6288 from Khabarovsk to Moscow Sheremetyevo (Russia) with 422 passengers and 15 crew, was enroute at FL360 about 400nm northwest of Krasnojarsk (Russia) when the crew received a cargo smoke indication and decided to divert to Krasnojarsk. The aircraft landed in Krasnojarsk about one hour later.

A replacement Boeing 777-300 registration EI-GFB was dispatched to Krasnojarsk and reached Moscow with a delay of about 12.5 hours.

The aircraft remained on the ground for 28.5 hours, then positioned to Sheremetyevo as flight FV-5402. The aircraft is still on the ground in Sheremetyevo about 3.5 days after landing in Moscow.

On Aug 26th 2020 Rosaviatsia reported the crew received a forward cargo smoke indication, worked the related checklists and discharged the fire suppression system in the cargo bay. The smoke indication ceased. The aircraft landed in normal mode. A post flight inspection revealed no evidence of fire, heat or smoke.

On Oct 14th 2020 Rosaviatsia reported the smoke indication in the forward cargo hold was false due to pollution of a relay and a printed circuit board, the sensor itself was okay. Rosaviatsia recommends periodic cleaning of smoke detectors in the cargo bays.
