A Lufthansa Airbus A321-200, registration D-AIDE performing flight LH-2558 from Munich (Germany) to Tbilisi (Georgia), was enroute at FL330 about 10nm west of Vienna (Austria) when the crew decided to turn around and return to Munich due to a fault indication with the landing gear control interface unit #1 (LGCIU #1). The aircraft landed safely on Munich's runway 08R about 40 minutes later.

A replacement A321-200 registration D-AISX departed the following morning and reached Tbilisi with a delay of about 10 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 60 hours before returning to service.
