An American Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N996AN performing flight AA-777 from Las Vegas,NV to Phoenix,AZ (USA), was climbing out of Las Vegas' runway 25R when the crew advised they needed to return to Las Vegas, they could not retract the landing gear, it remained down and locked. As they were "underweight", they were able to return immediately. The crew stopped the climb at 7000 feet and returned to Las Vegas for a safe landing on runway 25L about 13 minutes after departure.

A replacement A321-200 registration N556UW reached Phoenix with a delay of 4.5 hours.
