An Aeromexico Boeing 787-8, registration N964AM performing flight AM-37 (dep Mar 12th) from Mexico City (Mexico) to Barcelona,SP (Spain), was enroute at FL380 about 270nm north of Lajes Azores Islands (Portugal) when the initiated an emergency descent to FL100 due to the loss of cabin pressure as result of the cracked left forward windshield. The aircraft turned south and diverted to Lajes for a safe landing on runway 15 about 45 minutes after leaving FL380.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Lajes for 53 hours, then continued the journey as flight AM-9892 and reached Barcelona with a delay of 54 hours.

Passengers reported they were first kept on board for about 50 minutes, then needed to sign a "Corona-Form" and were taken to quarantaine facilities.
