An Austral Embraer ERJ-190 on behalf of Aerolineas Argentinas, registration LV-CIH performing flight AR-2436 from Buenos Aires Aeroparque,BA to San Juan,SJ (Argentina), was descending towards San Juan when the aircraft developed a hydraulic leak affecting brakes and landing gear extension. The crew therefore decided to divert to Mendoza,MD (Argentina) because of the longer runway available and landed safely in Mendoza.

Passengers reported the captain announced about 5 minutes after beginning the descent towards San Juan that the aircraft had suffered a leak of the right hand hydraulic system, which affected the brakes and landing gear extension. An alternate gear extension was necessary, due to the reduced brakes capabilities a landing in San Juan wasn't possible and they needed to divert to Mendoza, which features a longer runway.
