An American Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N977UY performing flight AA-1115 from Charlotte,NC to Philadelphia,PA (USA) with 183 passengers and 7 crew, was climbing out of Charlotte's runway 36R when the crew declared emergency advising they were turning right for runway 36R and reporting they had an engine (V2533) failure, stopped the climb at 8000 feet, secured the engine and returned to Charlotte for a safe landing on runway 36R about 13 minutes after departure.

A replacement A321-200 registration N184US reached Philadelphia with a delay of 2.5 hours.
