A S7 Sibir Airlines Embraer ERJ-170, registration VQ-BYF performing flight S7-1195 from Moscow Domodedovo to Penza (Russia) with 62 passengers, was on final approach to Penza descending through about 50 feet when the left hand engine (CF34) ingested a bird. The aircraft continued for a safe landing.

A replacement ERJ-170 registration VQ-BBO performed the return flight and reached Moscow with a delay of 4.5 hours.

Volga's Transport Prosecutor reported the aircraft was descending through about 15-20 meters when the left hand engine ingested an owl. The left engine suffered blade damage.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Penza about 32 hours after landing.
