A Piedmont Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N651AE performing flight AA-4909 from Fort Wayne,IN to Philadelphia,PA (USA) with 52 people on board, was enroute at FL250 about 120nm westnorthwest of Philadelphia when the crew requested to descend to 10,000 feet, subsequently advised their "cabin altitude had gone through the roof", declared emergency and advised no assistance on the ground was needed, they had lost cabin pressure. The aircraft performed an emergency descent to 10,000 feet and continued to Philadelphia for a safe landing about 25 minutes after leaving FL250.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 2.5 hours after landing.
