A Skywest Canadair CRJ-200 on behalf of United, registration N952SW performing flight UA-5459 from San Francisco,CA to Sacramento,CA (USA), was climbing out of San Francisco's runway 01R when the crew stopped the climb at about 9000 feet requested to return to San Francisco advising their gear didn't want to come up. The aircraft positioned for an approach runway 28L and landed safely back about 25 minutes after departure.

A replacement CRJ-200 registration N909SW reached Sacramento with a delay of 4 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in San Francisco about 25 hours after landing.
