An Envoy Embraer ERJ-135, registration N816AE performing flight AA-3659 from New York La Guardia,NY to Louisville,KY (USA) with 42 people on board, was in the initial descent towards Louisville when the crew declared emergency advising "one of our stall protection systems is breaking down". The crew subsequently advised they wanted emergency services on stand by for the arrival. The aircraft landed safely on Louisville's runway 17R about 25 minutes later and taxied to the apron.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 2 hours after scheduled departure for the return flight, still estimated to perform the return flight.
