A Polar Air Cargo Boeing 747-400, registration N450PA performing flight PO-769 from Bahrain (Bahrain) to Hong Kong (China), was climbing through FL230 out of Bahrain when the crew reduced the #1 engine (CF6) to idle and returned to Bahrain for a safe landing about 30 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Bahrain about 30 hours after landing back.
