A Sun-Air of Scandinvia Dornier Do-328 JET on behalf of British Airways, registration OY-NCI performing flight BA-8253 from Friedrichshafen to Hamburg (Germany) with 22 people on board, had departed Friedrichshafen's runway 24 and was enroute at FL240 about 110nm north of Friedrichshafen when the crew decided to return to Friedrichshafen after tyre debris was found on the departure runway. The aircraft entered a hold and landed safely back on runway 24 about 90 minutes after departure. The aircraft taxied to the apron with emergency services in trail.

Local Emergency Services reported they scrambled 290 rescue personnel from the surrounding cities for the landing, the landing was safe and no intervention was needed by the emergency services.
