A TAM Linhas Aereas Boeing 777-300, registration PT-MUB performing flight JJ-8084 from Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was enroute at FL310 about 120nm west of Salvador,BA (Brazil) when the crew decided to return to Guarulhos Airport due to a hydraulic failure. The aircraft landed safely on Guarulhos Airport's runway 09L about 2.5 hours later, the aircraft needed to be towed off the runway.

The airline confirmed the aircraft returned to Sao Paulo due to a technical fault, the passengers were provided with food and accomodation, the flight was re-scheduled for the next day as flight JJ-9375 departing Guarulhos at 18:00L (20:00Z) with a delay of 16 hours.

Passengers reported the captain announced a hydraulic failure as cause for their return to Sao Paulo.
