A Porter Airlines de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration C-GKQH performing flight PD-487 from Montreal,QC to Halifax,NS (Canada) with 71 people on board, was enroute at FL250 nearing Halifax when the #2 generator light came on, the crew informed maintenance. About 5 minutes later the #2 engine (PW150A) oil pressure became fluctuating, the oil pressure warning activated. The crew declared Mayday, shut the engine down about 120nm west of Halifax and drifted the aircraft down. The aircraft landed safely in Halifax about 30 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance determined the #2 DC generator had become unseated and caused a slow oil leak.
