A passenger reported the boarding was delayed by about an hour. After boarding the captain announced that there had been a gear problem which had been fixed with the help of Swissair maintenance. The aircraft departed and was climbing through clouds when the aircraft did not climb out of the clouds and it still felt as if the gear was extended. Subsequently the captain announced they still had a problem with the landing gear and they would need to return to Zurich. A replacement aircraft was ready, however, no crew to fly the aircraft, the flight therefore had to be cancelled. The passenger were provided with accomodation.
