A Dana Air McDonnell Douglas MD-83, registration 5N-JAI performing flight 9J-332 from Owerri to Lagos (Nigeria), was backtracking Owerri's runway for departure when the aircraft became disabled as the crew attempted to turn the aircraft around to line up for departure.

The airline reported the suffered a "nose wheel lock". The passengers disembarked onto the runway and were bussed to the terminal. A replacement aircraft subsequently took them to Lagos.

The airport was closed for about an hour until the aircraft was towed to the apron.
