A Jetblue Embraer ERJ-190, registration N178JB performing flight B6-571 from Westchester County,NY to West Palm Beach,FL (USA) with 54 passengers and 4 crew, was climbing out of Westchester's runway 16 when the crew reported they "hit two big geese", declared emergency, levelled off at 2000 feet and joined a right downwind for a safe landing on runway 16 about 7 minutes after departure.

The runway was subsequently closed for about 20 minutes until the bird debris had been cleaned off the runway.

A replacement Embraer ERJ-190 registration N249JB reached West Palm Beach with a delay of 2.5 hours.

The geese had impacted both windshields and the center pillar.

The FAA reported the aircraft received damage to its windshield.
