An Easyfly Colombia Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-500, registration HK-5199 performing a flight from Medellin Olaya Herrera (Colombia) to an unknown destination, was in the initial climb out of Medellin when the left hand engine (PW127) shut suddenly down and the fire alarm activated for the engine. The crew worked the related memory items and checklists and returned to Olaya Herrera Airport for a safe landing.

Colombia's Aerocivil rated the occurrence a serious incident and opened an investigation. There were no injuries, the aircraft received minor damage.
