A Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N556NW performing flight DL-919 from Sint Maarten (Sint Maarten) to Atlanta,GA (USA), was climbing out of Sint Maarten's runway 10 when the crew stopped the climb at about 5000 feet reporting unreliable airspeed indications, contacted dispatch and maintenance via radio and discussed the behaviour of airspeed indicators, air data switch positions etc. in order to trouble shoot the issue. Subsequently dispatch offered a number of possibilities to divert to pointing out that San Juan (Puerto Rico) was the best option with respect to weather. The crew decided to divert to San Juan. The aircraft landed on San Juan's runway 08 at a higher than normal speed about 53 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported the captain announced about 10 minutes after departure they would need to perform an emergency landing, however, needed to divert to an airport with a long runway. The passengers were instructed to brace for landing.
