A TAROM Boeing 737-800, registration YR-BGK performing flight RO-415 from Bucharest Otopeni (Romania) to Madrid,SP (Spain), was on final approach to Madrid's runway 32R descending through about 2900 feet MSL.

A F18 Fighter Aircraft had been rehearsing for a display scheduled at Torrejon de Ardoz (located 3.8nm east of Madrid Airport) a few days later. The aircraft exited the area under control by Torrejon de Ardoz and neared the civil aircraft.

Spain's CIAIAC reported on Aug 16th 2019, that the separation between the aircraft reduced to 0.4nm horizontal and 200 feet vertical. Both aircraft continued for safe landings. The CIAIAC is investigatig the occurrence.

On Sep 14th 2020 the CIAIAC reported the final report has been completed and been approved by both CIAIAC and the military. Due to the military being involved the publication and dissemination of the final report has been restricted (no final report was published).
