A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-GDN performing flight FR-3168 from Liverpool,EN (UK) to Paphos (Cyprus), was climbing out of Liverpool's runway 27 when a bird impacted the aircraft prompting the crew to stop the climb at 5000 feet, burn off fuel and return to Liverpool for a safe landing on runway 27 about 40 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration EI-EMH reached Paphos with a delay of about 5:20 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 10 hours before returning to service.
