A Qatar Airways Airbus A330-200, registration A7-ACG performing flight QR-614 from Doha (Qatar) to Islamabad (Pakistan), was on final approach to Islamabad's runway 10R when the right hand engine (CF6) emitted a bang and streaks of flames (unclear whether as result of a bird strike or similiar). The crew initiated a go around from about 1200 feet AGL, climbed to 5000 feet, worked the related checklists and landed on runway 10R about 30 minutes after the go around.

The aircraft was unable to depart for the return flight QR-615 and is still on the ground about 18 hours after landing.

On Aug 2nd 2019 Pakistan's SIB reported the #2 engine failed prompting the crew to discontinue the approach. After completing the checklist items the aircraft performed a single engine landing. The occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated.

On Oct 14th 2019 the NTSB representing the state of design and manufacture of the engines announced, they have appointed an accredited representative to assist the investigation by the SIB according to ICAO Annex 13.
