A Qatar Airways Airbus A350-900, registration A7-AMH performing flight QR-1341 from Doha (Qatar) to Nairobi (Kenya), was enroute at FL400 about 250nm southsouthwest of Salalah (Oman) when the crew needed to shut the left hand engine (Trent XWB) down, drifted down to FL270, turned around and diverted to Salalah for a safe landing about one hour later.

A replacement A350-900 registration A7-ALQ positioned to Salalah, departed Salalah about 8 hours after A7-AMH landed and reached Nairobi with a delay of about 10:45 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Salalah for about 20 hours, then positioned to Doha.
