An Iraqi Airways Airbus A320-200, registration YI-ARA performing flight IA-239 from Sulaimaniyah (Iraq) to Sofia (Bulgaria) with 78 passengers and 9 crew, was descending towards Sofia when the crew reported a cracked right hand windshield and requested a quick landing, however, no emergency or priority was requested. The aircraft landed on Sofia's runway 09 about 10 minutes later.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Sofia about 53 hours after landing.
