There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained substantial damage. The runway needed to be closed.

The airline reported the aircraft landed in heavy rain and overran the runway. The passengers disembarked normally, there were no injuries amongst passengers and crew.

Mumbai had received the heaviest rainfalls in a decade on Sunday and Monday (Jun 30th and Jul 1st).

On Jul 3rd 2019 India's Civil Aviation Minister stated that due to Monsoon such occurrences occasionally happen as result of excessive rain, however, all is under control and there is no cause for concern. A meeting was held following the three serious overruns in the last three days, the ministry reminded airlines to follow precautions for monsoon operations, failure of such actions could result in "action".

On ul 3rd 2019 the aircraft is being removed from the runway, the runway is now expected to return to service on Jul 4th 2019 at 06:30Z (12:00L).
