A Porter Airlines de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration C-GLQQ performing flight PD-122 from Newark,NJ (USA) to Toronto City,ON (Canada) with 34 passengers, was enroute at 18,000 feet about 15nm northeast of Scranton,PA (USA) when the crew needed to shut an engine (PW150) down. The crew diverted to Scranton's Wilkes-Barre International Airport for a safe landing about 20 minutes later.

On Feb 18th 2019 the Canadian TSB reported the crew heard unusual engine sounds after levelling off at 14,000 feet following initial climb and worked the related checklists. In the absence of any abnormal engine indications the crew continued the flight and climbed the aircraft to FL180, however following the climb the crew received a #2 propeller electronic control caution message, the propeller rpm increased to 1060 rpm. The crew worked the checklists again, shut the right hand engine down, declared emergency and diverted to Scranton. Maintenance determined that the #2 Beta Feedback Transducer had failed causing the propeller initially to go into an underspeed condition followed by an overspeed condition. The overspeed governor limited the rpm to 1060 rpm until the crew shut the engine down. The occurrence has been included in the operator's SMS for further investigation.
