A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N8687A performing flight WN-1643 from Las Vegas,NV to Omaha,NE (USA) with 150 passengers and 6 crew, landed on Omaha's runway 14R at 14:03L (20:03Z) but overran the end of the runway and veered right off the paved surface coming to a stop about 50 meters/160 feet past the end and about 9 meters/30 feet to the right of the extended right edge of the runway. Tower alerted emergency services and redirected aircraft taxiing for departure to runway 14L instead of 14R telling Southwest had just overrun runway 14R but subsequently announced the entire airport was shut down after airport operations had reported the braking action on runway 14L was not good. There were no injuries, the aircraft received minor if any damage. The passengers disembarked via mobile stairs and were bussed to the terminal.

The previous arrival landing about 2-3 minutes prior to WN-1643 reported braking action was good.

The airline reported the aircraft landed safely but slid onto an overrun area white taxiing.
