A Hop! Fokker 100, registration 9A-BTE performing flight A5-3093 from Hamburg (Germany) to Nantes (France), was climbing out of Hamburg's runway 23 when the crew declared PAN PAN PAN reporting an engine had failed. The aircraft levelled off at FL060, the engine was secured and the aircraft returned to Hamburg for a safe landing on runway 23 about 33 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service after about 32 hours on the ground.
