An Aer Lingus Airbus A330-300, registration EI-DUZ performing flight EI-125 from Dublin (Ireland) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) with 300 passengers and 10 crew, was on final approach to Chicago O'Hare's runway 10 when the aircraft received a bird strike. The crew continued for a safe landing and taxied to the gate using routine communication (and without reporting the bird strike).

The return flight EI-124 had to be cancelled however.

The airline confirmed a bird strike on approach to Chicago requiring thorough inspection of an engine (CF6). They hope the aircraft will be able to resume service later the day. A replacement Omni aircraft will perform the return flight as flight EI-2124 departing Chicago at midnight Oct 1st.
