A Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330-200, registration G-VWND performing flight VS-34 (dep Aug 30th) from Antigua (Antigua) to London Gatwick,EN (UK), was on final approach to Gatwick's runway 08R when the crew initiated a go around at about 1000 feet MSL due to a brakes 1 system fault followed by a nose wheel steering fault. The aircraft climbed to FL070 and entered a hold while the crew prepared the aircraft for the next approach. The aircraft landed safely on Gatwick's runway 08R about 35 minutes after the go-around and stopped on the runway.

The runway was closed for about 30 minutes until the aircraft was towed off the runway.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 40 hours after landing.
