A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-GJO performing flight FR-4005 from Milan Bergamo (Italy) to Lourdes (France), was accelerating for takeoff from Bergamo's runway 28 when almost simultaneously with the begin of the rotation for takeoff the left hand engine (CFM56) ingested a bird. The aircraft levelled off at FL110 and returned to Milan Bergamo for a safe landing on runway 28 about 20 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported just before the aircraft became airborne the engine sound changed and became extremely loud. The aircraft climbed out and levelled off, the captain announced there had been a bird strike into the left hand engine, the engine was still operating, they were returning to Bergamo.
