A Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330-300, registration G-VINE performing flight VS-89 from London Gatwick,EN (UK) to Saint Lucia (Saint Lucia), was in the initial climb out of Gatwick's runway 26L when the crew received indication the green hydraulic system had low quantity and low pressure. The crew continued the climb and was enroute at FL360 about 300nm west of Gatwick when the crew decided to return to Gatwick due to the hydraulic faults. The aircraft burned off fuel, performed an alternate gear extension and landed safely back on Gatwick's runway 26L about 2:45 hours after departure. The aircraft stopped on the runway and was towed to the apron.
