A Corsair Airbus A330-200, registration F-HBIL performing flight SS-984 from Paris Orly (France) to Abidjan (Cote d'Ivoire), was enroute at FL370 over Perpignan (France) when the crew decided to return to Paris following a discussion with maintenance. The crew advised ATC they had had a right hand engine (Trent 772) EGT overtemperature indication with all other parameters remaining normal. The aircraft descended to FL200, dumped fuel and landed safely back on Orly's runway 06 about 2 hours after departure.

The airline advised the flight was postponed to the next day.

A replacement A330-300 registration F-HSKY reached Abidjan with a delay of 18 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service 24 hours after landing back.
