A Swiss Airbus A320-200, registration HB-IJE performing flight LX-1024 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Dusseldorf (Germany), was on final approach to Dusseldorf's runway 05L when the crew initiated a go around from about 1800 feet MSL due to the gear not extending after being selected down. The aircraft climbed back to 3000 feet and entered a hold, where the crew worked the related checklists, performed a manual gear extension which managed to extend and lock the gear. The aircraft landed safely on Dusseldorf's runway 05R about 22 minutes after the go around. The aircraft was towed to the apron.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Dusseldorf for 46 hours, then positioned back to Zurich and resumed service.
