An Allegiant Airbus A320-200, registration N225NV performing flight G4-101 from Cedar Rapids,IA to Phoenix Mesa,AZ (USA) with 157 people on board, was in the initial climb out of Cedar Rapid's runway 09 when the crew reported smoke in the cockpit, stopped the climb at about 5000 feet and returned to Cedar Rapids for a safe landing on runway 09 about 18 minutes after departure.

The airline reported the smoke was caused by a mechanical issue, emergency services found nothing unusual.
