An Emirates Boeing 777-300, registration A6-EQE performing flight EK-238 from Boston,MA (USA) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), was enroute at FL310 about 30nm east of Varna (Bulgaria) when the crew reported problems with the lavatories and decided to turn south to divert to Athens (Greece). The aircraft landed safely in Athens about 70 minutes later.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about two hours, then continued the flight and is estimated to reach Dubai with a delay of about 3:10 hours.

The airline reported: "Due to Operational Reasons the flight has diverted to Athens."
