A Frontier Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration N223FR performing flight F9-1839 from Tulsa,OK to San Diego,CA (USA) with 129 passengers and 6 crew, was enroute at FL340 about 200nm east of Albuquerque when the flight crew decided to divert to Albuquerque due to an unidentified odour, chemical in nature, in the aft cabin. The aircraft landed safely in Albuquerque about 40 minutes later.

The airline reported the aircraft diverted to Albuquerque due to an unknwon odour in the aft cabin out of abundance of precaution. The aircraft landed without further incident.

The remainder of the flight was cancelled, the passengers were taken to hotels and rebooked onto flight the following day. The cause of the odour is being investigated.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 10 hours after landing.
