A Royal Air Maroc Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration CN-COH performing flight AT-438 from Casablanca to Al Hoceima (Morocco), was on very short final to Al Hoceima's runway 17 when the crew decided to go around, the aircraft however made ground contact with a hard touchdown before climbing out again. The aircraft positioned for another approach to runway 17 and landed on runway 17 without further incident about 25 minutes after the go-around.

Morocco's AIB reported the captain performed a post flight inspection of the aircraft and decided to cancel the return flight. The aircraft sustained minor damage as result of the hard landing during the go-around, that was initiated because the runway was occupied by birds. The occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated by Morocco's AIB.
