A Rex Regional Express Saab 340B, registration VH-NRX performing flight ZL-4768 from Kingscote,SA to Adelaide,SA (Australia) with 7 passengers and 3 crew, was on final approach to Adelaide's runway 12 when the aircraft went around from about 750 feet AGL, the crew requested to hold somewhere. ATC cleared the flight to operate in an area south of Adelaide's runway 12 extended center line and north of Adelaide's VOR radial 25 not above 3000 feet. The aircraft climbed to 1000 feet MSL (about 500 feet at standard pressure setting, QNH 1031 hPa) and operated within the assigned area. About 20 minutes later the crew declared PAN advising they had a hydraulic problem, they would need to stop on the runway and requested runway 12. The aircraft landed safely on runway 12 about 45 minutes after aborting the first approach.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Adelaide about 13.5 hours after landing.
